Long Beach police arrest massage therapist in bizarre 2014 ‘vampire facial’ death – Long Beach Press Telegram

Long Beach police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Long Beach massage therapist on suspicion of murder after the bizarre death of a woman in 2014 who may have undergone a vampire facial.

Sandra Perez Gonzalez, 48, was booked Tuesday in connection with the death of Hamilet Suarez, 36, of Long Beach, police said.

The victim had gone to Arelis Beauty Salon, 2113 Pacific Ave., on Feb. 12, 2014, where she had been booked for a massage.

Homicide detectives learned that Gonzalez, who was only licensed to perform massages, had advertised that she also performs vampire facials a procedure that involves using the patients own blood to inject into the face in order reduce sagging or wrinkled skin and other procedures, such as butt lifts and lip augmentation.

Gonzalez initially was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substances used in the medical procedures, for which she was not licensed. However, she was released without being charged.

It is not clear what new findings or evidence led to Tuesdays arrest

Local police also worked with the California Medical Board and the Los Angeles County coroners office in their investigation.

At the time of Suarezs death, police said detectives found medical equipment and vials of controlled substances, and that it appeared she had performed these procedures for at least a month.

Fire officials found Suarez in full cardiac arrest. She later died at a hospital.

Gonzalez, who also goes by the name Sandra Yaneth Slaughter, was being held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood in lieu of $2 million bail, according to sheriffs inmate records.

Long Beach police said the investigation remains ongoing.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed on behalf of Suarezs husband and the couples 5-year-old son in 2015 against the salon and Slaughter, alleging she wasnt licensed to perform medical or cosmetic procedures when Suarez came to her for a cosmetic treatment to augment her buttocks.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that Suarez went to the salon and was injected with controlled substances by Slaughter in a room she rented at the salon.

Suarez was healthy before the procedure, according to the lawsuit, which alleged the salons owner knew Slaughter was performing improper procedures at the salon for about a month before Suarezs death and did nothing to stop her.
