Stephanie: Frank Grillo And Anna Torv Star In Upcoming Horror Movie – Geek Magazine

Blumhouse is putting together quite the roster for its latest horror film, Stephanie. Being helmed by an Academy Award winning writer as well as two actors with considerable Geek cred, Stephanie could shape up to be a horror film to watch for.

The film will tell the story of a little girl with unworldly abilities who was abandoned before a man and a woman show up claiming to be her parents, thereby interrupting her mysterious world.

Akiva Goldman has signed on to helm the horror flick for Blumhouse, Unbroken and The Gotham Group. Goldsmans feature writing credits include Batman Forever, A Time To Kill, Practical Magic, I, Robot, Cinderella Man, I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Insurgent and A Beautiful Mind, for which he won an Academy Award and Golden Globe. Goldsmans feature directorial debut Winters Tale, was released in February 2014 to tepid reviews, but heres hoping hes learned a thing or two from that mitigated disaster of a movie.

Penned by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski,Stephanie tells the story of a young girl (played by Shree Crooks) abandoned by her parents in their remote home. Stephanie survives on peanut butter and conversations with her toy turtle, while a dark supernatural force looms in the background. When her mother and father return to claim her, Stephanies mysterious world is disrupted and amalevolent power spins out of control.

Frank Grillo and Anna Torv have been cast in the film. Thats right, Crossbones himself, Frank Grillo will take the male lead in the film. Grillo has been slowly rising to prominence with supporting performances in The Grey, Warrior and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He headlined Blumhouses last two installments of The Purgefranchise, and also reprised his role as Brock Rumlow a.k.a. Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War, which grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide.

Torv, who many know for her role on the cult hit show Fringe, will take on the female lead in Stephanie. Torv and Grillo will play parents who discover their daughter might be a bit worse for the wear after they abandoned her in a creepy, supernaturally infested vacation home for far too long.

Look for Stephanie to hit theaters sometime in 2017. There isnt an official release date at this time but keep it here on GEEK for any updates.
