A NIGERIAN mass murderer known as the Vampire has been killed in a dramatic shootout with police.

The body of Henry Chibueze, 36, was paraded through the streets, with one onlooker shouting: Look at you now. You will go to hellfire.

Chibueze had killed up to 200 people in a campaign of murder and kidnap that began when he was just 11.

Among themwas his former girlfriend whose house in the capital Lagos he stormed, murdering her and six children.

He had been busted out of police custody in January by his ruthless gang members and went into hiding in the south of the country.

But police tracked him down to dense forest in Rivers state and engaged in a gun battle that ended with his death on Thursday morning.

His corpse was laid out on a white sheet next to surviving gang members before being dragged through the streets.

The terror, fear and anxiety caused by Vampires escape is now a thing of the past, said Chief Superintendent Jimoh Moshood.
