Horror Movie Filmed at Mansion off Winchester Road – WKYT

For the past several weeks, we have noticed a lot of activity at a mysterious mansion that looks vacant off Winchester Road....trucks and vans late at night coming and going. Tuesday night we decided to see for ourselves what was happening, and boy, are we glad we did. Bryan Sexton, movie producer for Distilled Media, says " we looked at thirty or so places and found this place, thankfully we got it, because it's perfect for a haunted mansion." It's not the kind of place you would want to be overnight by yourself...but perfect for what these movie makers needed for a horror flick called "The Wiccan." Sexton says, "inside the paint is peeling, the walls are falling apart, and the floor boards are starting to come up..." Sexton is a hometown boy who went to school at Sayre, and found his way to California. He loves the idea of coming back to Kentucky to shoot his movie, and the Commonwealth made it worth it financially. "The state has tax incentives for producers, and we were able to get something financed that we would not have in California." Reporter Sam Dick says, "The producer of this flick says the mansion was built in 1929, and he doesn't think it's been lived in since the 1990's. He allowed us to go inside to see a scene shot, and wow, is this place perfect for a horror movie." We follow the producer to a room near the front of the mansion just off a spiral stair case that must have witnessed some grand parties in it's day...but around the corner there is nothing fun going on." The director says, "Action", and a young actor groans and reaches for a knife by a covered fireplace. He looks scared, and hurt. Sexton says, "It's the story of four high school kids who go to the house at the end of the street at Halloween that no one has even gone into before..." The movie makers will work thru the night...taking advantage of a place that oozes fright, dark shadows, and strange noises. "The Wiccan" is due out for movie goers in time for Halloween.
