Castle Dracula: A fangtastic date with a difference – Dublin Live

When I arrived at Castle Dracula, I didn't know what to expect.

The tourist attraction is located at the back of the West Wood Health Club, and you have to walk through the whole gym to get to it.

My exercise-hating boyfriend argued that this was surely scarier than any haunted house - how wrong he was.

Castle Dracula kicks off in a dark tunnel, where the deranged Renfield tells you all about Bram Stoker's life and the story of Dracula.

There's a really interesting exhibition which I would have loved a bit more time to look at, although you do get ten minutes at the interval if you want to come back.

After the tunnel you're led deeper into the castle, where you meet Lucy, Dracula's first victim.

You then have to walk through haunted hallways with ghastly ghouls at every turn - and be warned, they will grab you!

Once you make it into the main area there's a stage, where some of the actors perform spooky songs.

It's totally random and my other half was very uncomfortable when a pretty singer sat on his lap, but I found it hilarious.

The next part of the night is a magic show where a man proves that he is in fact a vampire.

All of the performers are very entertaining, talented and quick with a one-liner, as the event can be unpredictable!

It's about two hours long in total and only takes place on Saturdays, although they're hoping to add more shows in the future.

Tickets are 25 and it's well worth the money - I haven't laughed or screamed so much in a long time.

PLUS it's the perfect place for a date as you'll have lots of excuses to hold hands and huddle close together!

5/5
