Like any show or movie, posters are created to promote its upcoming release date with many getting creative. The Walking Dead is no exception, boasting tons of unique posters each one better than the last. With that, here are 10 coolest posters throughout the seasons ofThe Walking Dead.

The migration to the prison took the show in a whole new direction, introducing a new location and a threat for the group to fight.

The posters and promotions were just as good, showcasing Rick atop a bus with his iconic .44 magnum revolver. Rick and co. though they'd be safe within prison when it reality they painted a huge target on their backs. The defense of the prison tested every group member, with Rick feeling most of it with the loss of his wife during childbirth.

Does the zombie apocalypse stop Officer Rick Grimes from sporting his police uniform? Of course, not, his outfit is a symbol of hope in a world devoid of safety. Even without the caption, the poster has an eerie feel as the only identifiable object is Rick's iconic hat and a dark house in the background.

This was one of many posters released in the early days of the show. Seeing posters like these puts things in perspective to see how far the show has come, and where Rick co. started.

Rick is one of the most selfless characters from The Walking Dead, doing whatever he can to ensure the safety and prosperity of his group. A natural-born leader, Rick is a good man and was a beacon of hope for everyone who joined his group. The note was written on the map, "The new world is gonna need Rick Grimes" says it all.

He's been tested in every way, losing many people that were close to him, but this was enough fuel to keep him going. Despite his departure from the show, Rick's legacy is continued through those who knew him, the promises he kept, and his actions that saved hundreds.

The Governor was an evil character, but Negan was a whole new level of wicked and twisted. Beating his victims with a bat, Negan's remorseless approach to life made him one of the scariest villains The Walking Dead has seen. The broken glass poster featured a cold stare from Negan along with a desperate look form characters like Rick, Daryl, and Carl.

Lucille the bat has broken the bones of many and doesn't miss when swung by its owner. Whenever Negan is around, fans are left waiting to see who will fall victim to the barb-wired killing machine.

The battle between Rick, Negan and their armies was bound to happen with the two warring sides going head to head. Ever since Glenn's death, fans knew Rick and co. would take down Negan and his band of outlaws.

This poster featured all of the major characters gearing up for the much-anticipated battle, the quintessential good vs. evil, with Rick coming out on top. The show has featured some violent battles, but none like this that could be categorized as a war.

The Whisperers reintroduced the horror aspect of the show, wearing the skin of walkers to blend in the dead. This close up photo of The Whisperers was pure nightmare fuel for fans. What's worse is the green lettering dripping above the Whisperer along with some walkers looming in the background.

This poster, along with the introduction of The Whisperers, made fans think twice about Fight the Dead, Fear the Living.

The collapse of the prison meant the separation of the core group with characters scattered about. With Rick and Carl together, the only thing left is to keep keeping on, and not look back. Rick even says this to Carl as they flee what's left of the prison as the walkers infiltrate the walls.

Not only that, but the train tracks below them would become even scarier than the prison. Terminus sounded like a good idea it turned out to be nothing but a human slaughterhouse.

Another poster from Season 1, this one captures one of the most iconic shots of the entire show. Rick walked into the city blindly, unaware of the thousands of Walkers that walked the streets. But what's truly terrifying is the side of traffic parallel to Rick, jam-packed with abandoned cars.

Even without the context of a zombie apocalypse, it's still a spooky sight to see as one lone rider trots into the city.

The posters promoting Negan were simply superb, soaked in a black and white photo with a red finish in the lettering. FanswitnessedGlenn's brutal death, but this was just the beginning of a reign of terror. The ominous smile along with a tight grip on Lucille labeled Negan as a villain, someone who benefited from the apocalypse. The absence of the rule of law gave Negan an opportunity to take advantage of the weak, with many suffering from the spiked bat.

Terminus featured one of the biggest plot twists of the show with fans anxiously waiting to see how Rick and co. would escape. The poster meant the reunification of the group but also an entanglement with some cannibalistic hosts and unlucky visitors who fell for the same marketing scheme.

Terminus made the group wary of any established colony of people, distrustful of those offer asylum for fear of witnessing another cannibalistic episode.
