Canadian crime drama Cardinal is returning to the BBC for its fourth and final season, this time living on BBC Two instead of BBC Four.

The series, which is based on Giles Blunt's novels, follows police detective John Cardinal and his partner Lise Delorme as they investigate crimes in the fictional city of Algonquin Bay.

This new season will adapt the sixth novel in Blunt's series, Until the Night, and will be six episodes long.

It returns with a double bill on Wednesday 3 June, starting at 9pm.

Billy Campbell as Detective John Cardinal

Campbell first found fame by playing Luke Fuller in the original 1980s version of the soap Dynasty.

Since then he's played Rick Sammler onOnce and Again, Detctive Joey Indelli on Crime Story,Jordan CollieronThe 4400, and Dr Jon Fielding on the Tales of the Cityminiseries.

His best known movies include The Rocketeer and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Karine Vanasse as Detective Lise Delorme

Vanasse is best known for playing Colette Valois in the American period drama series Pan Am and Margaux LeMarchal in ABC's Revenge.

She has also appeared in All the Wrong Reasons and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Glen Gould as Detective Jerry Commanda

Gould has not done much work outside of Canada, but is known there for roles in TV shows including Cashing In,Blackstone, North of 60andTribal.

In 2011 he won the Outstanding Performance Award at the Atlantic Film Festivalfor his role in the filmCharlie Zone.

Kristen Thomson as Sergeant Noelle Dyson

Thomson is best known for her one-woman play, I, Claudia, which was adapted into a film in 2004.

She has also appeared in Canadian series including The Firm and The Listener.

Zach Smadu as Detective Ash Kuler

Outside of Cardinal Smadu is best known for playing Fayez on the Amazon Prime series The Expanse, and voicing Ozzy in the animated kids' series Rusty Rivets.

James Downing as Detective Ian McLeod

Downing has played small roles in several big movies and TV series, including Total Recall, Suits, Fargo and The Incredible Hulk.

Alanna Bale asKelly Cardinal

Bale played Courtney in the Hallmark series Good Witch and is also known for Killjoys and 2016 movie Next Stop.
