Brian Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung expected to headline UFC event on Oct. 17 – MMA Fighting

Following months of trash talk and near confrontations, Brian Ortega and The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung are finally on a collision course with the featherweights expected to headline the upcoming UFC event on Oct. 17.

Multiple sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report from Milenio.com.

The fight between Ortega and Jung has been rumored for quite some time but various circumstances prevented them from actually facing off. Most recently, the coronavirus pandemic that slowed down or stopped a lot of international travel kept Jung from traveling to the U.S. from his native South Korea.

Now it appears all hurdles have been cleared with Jung looking to build on a 3-1 resume in his past four fights including a devastating first round knockout against Frankie Edgar in his most recent appearance. The only loss on Jungs recent record was a late, fifth round comeback from Yair Rodriguez after The Korean Zombie had dominated the majority of the fight.

As for Ortega, he will be returning to action for the first time since 2018 when he lost his bid to become UFC featherweight champion. On that night, Ortega fell to Max Holloway by TKO following the fourth round.

Prior to that defeat, Ortega had started his career with a perfect 14-0 record including wins in the UFC over Edgar, Cub Swanson and Renato Moicano.

Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie is expected to headline the Oct. 17 card, which will likely take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, although no exact location has been determined yet.
