OKC’s Rodeo Cinema to celebrate second anniversary with special screening and Q&A of Mickey Reece’s new film ‘Climate of the Hunter’ – Oklahoman.com

It has subsequently been shown at the Nashville Film Festival, Chattanooga Film Festival, Calgary Underground Film Festival, Florida Film Festival and Indy Film Festival.

As previously reported, Reece lensed "Climate of the Hunter" last year in the Newcastle native's home state. It was shot on location in secluded cabins near Tahlequah in early February 2019 and made use of the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by Oklahoma Film + Music Office.

The script Climate of the Hunter was written by Reece and John Selvidge, the latter of whom co-wrote the script for Reeces T-Rex (2014) and Suedehead (2015). Producers of the film also include Mikey Bill Taylor, Ron Sutor, Beth Alonso, George Adams and Jacob Ryan Snovel.

Starring Snovel, Ginger Gilmartin, Mary Buss, Ben Hall, Laurie Cummings, Danielle Evon Ploeger and Sheridan McMichael - many of whom are frequent Reece collaborators - Climate of the Hunter has been described as "a visual interpretation of The Jesus and Mary Chains 1985 debut album, 'Psychocandy,' under the guise of two sisters and their battle for the affection of a man who may or may not be Dracula."

(Story continued below...)

Contentious sisters Alma (Gilmartin) and Elizabeth (Buss) are taking some quiet time in their familys cabin, but their ongoing issues are dredged up by the reappearance of Wesley (Hall), a man from their youth. Whilst staying next door, his odd behavior leads local weirdo BJ (Snovel) to suspect theres something supernatural to blame. Soon the seed of doubt starts to take root in Alma. Has Wesley returned from his globe-trotting adventures a vampire, or are Almas delusions overtaking her reality?

As previously reported, Rodeo Cinema is taking numerous COVID-19 precautions, including required masks for guests, sneeze guards at the registers, staff in masks and gloves, social distancing signage, reduced theater capacity and increased time between screenings to allow for more time to clean and sanitize the theaters.
