The Creators of HOST Are Developing a Female-Driven Horror Film Described as The Conjuring Behind Bars – GeekTyrant

StudioCanalis teaming up with the creative team behind Shudders lockdown horror filmHost. The new film is a female-driven horror movie that is described as The Conjuringbehind bars.

Hostwriter and directorRob Savagewill direct the film andHostwriter Jed Shepherd will produce the film. Savage explains that the project is a melding of the prison escape movie and the haunted house movie, in which a group of women who stage an unsuccessful breakout attempt discover a secret room that unleashes a dark presence that marauds the halls at night. The film will have a claustrophobic quality akin toThe Descent.

Savage went on to talk about the characters, and explains that None of the characters are conventional good guys. So, there are opportunities for interesting casting choices with actors playing against type. Its also said that the movie incorporates elements of Brit folklore.

Teresa Sutherland, who wrote the 2018 frontier horror,The Wind, is writing the script for the movie. This sounds like it could make a fun horror flick. I love the idea of a haunted prison escape movie.

Savage is also planning to follow upHostwith another low-budget found footage film, which he wants to shoot late 2020 or early 2021. In regards to that project, he said:

We want to keep up the momentum fromHost. Its not a conventional sequel toHost, more of a follow-up film. IfHostwas about the horror of lockdown, this is about the fear or going back outside, of the world reopening. It wont have a conventional development process so were putting the gas on it now and were in talks with various industry partners about it.
