To horror fans, Jeff Goldbum is best known for playing Seth Brundle in the 1986 remake of The Fly, but it's not his only horror movie role. Goldblum is one of those actors that tends to be appreciated by just about everyone, partly due to just how unique a performer he is. There's no other actor quite like him, as he brings a very unusual energy to basically every role. Anyone who's seen him on a talk show would be inclined to believe that his energy is actually normal for him too, not just something he's doing for the camera.

To general audiences, Goldblum is still probably most associated with his roles in sci-fi blockbusters Jurassic Park and Independence Day. He was also a delight as villain The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, a character many Marvel fans hope returns to the MCU. In 2021, Goldblum is set to reprise his signature role of Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Dominion, alongside fellow returning stars Sam Neill and Laura Dern.

When it comes to horror though, it's hard to see Goldblum ever finding a role more iconic than The Fly, especially since he doesn't dip his toes into the genre nearly as often as he used to. For those unfamiliar with the rest of his catalog, here are Goldblum's other horror endeavors.

Jeff Goldblum's first horror movie role actually came well before The Fly's 1986 release. He first appeared in 1977's The Sentinel, a somewhat obscure film about a Brooklyn apartment building that's built over a gateway to Hell. That's certainly not something the landlord would advertise. Goldblum plays a fashion photographer named Jack. In 1978, Goldblum played a larger supporting role in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a remake of the 1956 classic that's arguably even better. His character is again named Jack, and indeed gets snatched. By 1980, Goldblum was playing the iconic role of Ichabod Crane in a TV movie version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Fast-forwarding to 1985, Goldblum again played a character named Jack in the wacky horror/comedy Transylvania 6-5000, alongside Ed Begley Jr. The two play tabloid reporters sent to Transylvania to investigate Frankenstein sightings, although Dracula would certainly make more sense. In 1990's Mister Frost, Goldblum gets to chew on the titular villainous role, a serial killer who may well be Satan in disguise. 1995's Hideaway, an adaptation of a novel by Dean Koontz, features some terrible CGI, but Goldblum is still interesting to watch. He plays Hatch Harrison, a man who becomes psychically connected to a serial killer after briefly dying, then being revived.
