Spooky season is upon us. Tis the season of hayrides, pumpkin spice, andCoraline. The movie is as thrilling as it is breathtaking. From the gorgeous visuals to the quirky characters, the 2009 masterpiece remains a classic to this day. But despite how untouchable the movie already is, rumors about a live-action remake are circulating the internet. Since reboots are all the rage now, it wouldnt be too big of a surprise. Coralinetells the story of an eleven-year-old girl who moves from Michigan to Oregon. Being an only child with no friends, Coraline quickly grows bored. The only person in the neighborhood whos her age is a strange boy named Wybie. Coraline decides hes too geeky and talkative for her taste. Because of this, she feels as though she has no one around to connect with.

That is until she discovers the secret door.

The secret door leads to a universe where all of her problems are fixed. Instead of gloomy backdrops, the world around Coraline blooms with vibrant colors. Her withdrawn parents from real life are now incredibly affectionate and attentive. Even Wybie is better in Coralines eyes because he can no longer talk! The garden is breathtaking, the food is delicious, and everything seems perfect. That is until her parents force her to sew buttons onto her eyes.

Rumors have been flying around all over the internet thatCoralineis going to be made into a live-action remake. While some people love the idea of more Coraline, others are terrified of this concept.Most fans of the film believe the movie is so perfect on its own, and that there would be no point trying to tamper with Neil Gaimans story. If it isnt broken, why fix it?

We have seen a rise in Disney animated classics receiving live-action reboots.Beauty and The Beast,The Jungle Book,Dumbo, and Mulanare just some of the many remakes that have been made in recent years. Because of the popularity regarding these live-action reboots, fans came to the assumption that Coraline would get the same treatment.

The author of Coraline, Neil Gaiman, has weighed in.

The writer took to Twitter to dispel the rumors.

Gaiman writes, If anyone has any idea where this live action Coraline nonsense started can you please send me a link? All I can see is thousands of upset people who have apparently all heard it from each other.

Most movies are made in about a year to two years, tops. It is rare when a flick comes along that takes nearly half a decade to create. Considering the film is done using stop motion animation, it makes sense that it would take so long. Henry Selick, the movies stop motion director, has created several ambitious projects. They include Tim BurtonsA Nightmare Before Christmas, as well asJames and The Giant Peach.
