‘Zombie Reddy’ Teaser: The Undead Rise During The Cornavirus Pandemic In This Prashanth Varma Movie – Mashable India

While talking about a Coronavirus pandemic themed movie called Unpaused, I said that I am done with those kind of films because they become dated the moment they come out. Also, they seem exploitative because they are basically using the fear and paranoia amongst the people to grab eyeballs. But they get some leeway because of the humane stories and some form of concern for mankind. Then there are those that are taking it a notch higher by turning the world into a post-apocalyptic landscape because everyone on the internet have been mentioning that from time to time. One of the most egregious examples of that is the Michael Bay produced Songbird and I think we have another addition to that list in the form of Zombie Reddy.

The teaser begins with a pretty ominous voice talking about men, monsters, and gods. Then the visuals kick in and right off the bat... we see a bat. Then there's a shot of COVID written on a wall. Then there's a shot of a COVID vaccine. Then there are some freaky shots of a person in a PPE suit probably working on it after which the zombie outbreak begins. Oh yes, and there is a lot of Hinduism going for some reason with Anandhi's character wielding a trishul and Teja Sajja's character swinging a mace i.e. two of the most impractical weapons that should be used against zombies. Daksha Nagarkar's character has her shit sorted out because she's flaunting a shotgun. And that's about it.

Now, despite my reservations about the timing, the plot (There's a lot of skepticism around the COVID-19 vaccine and it's one thing to joke about how it begin the zombie apocalypse and another thing to make a whole movie about it), and the display of religion, I am actually impressed how good it looks (?). I am sure that Prasanth Varma shot it during this lockdown and in a set or studio or sound stage, unless he was able to see the future, and I don't know how he has managed to make it seem so crisp. If you look at most of the movies that have been made during the pandemic, they look horrendous. But that's not what's going on with Zombie Reddy. I know that it's just the teaser and maybe I'm overreacting. So, let's just wait and reserve our judgements until the full trailer releases.
