Fear the Walking Dead Renewed for Season 7 at AMC – Variety

Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 7 at AMC.

The announcement was made Thursday on the Walking Dead Twitter account. Season 6 of the Walking Dead companion series debuted back in October and is currently nearing its halfway mark. The series stars Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, Alexa Nisenson, Austin Amelio, Ruben Blades and Karen David.

Fear the Walking Dead is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, as well as Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd and Greg Nicotero.

News of the renewal comes as the Walking Dead franchise as a whole finds itself at a crossroads. It was previously announced that the mothership show The Walking Dead will end with its upcoming eleventh season. That season will be split into two 12 episode chunks, on top of the six additional episodes of Season 10 that will air early next year. An untitled Daryl-Carol spinoff has already been ordered, while AMC is developing the episodic anthology Tales of the Walking Dead as well.

AMC is also currently airing the sister series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which follows a generation of young people as they come of age in the zombie apocalypse. And still in the works are the standalone films centered on Rick Grimes, with Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln attached to return.

Now, with Fear the Walking Dead renewed, that means AMC will again have three Walking Dead shows on its air in 2021. It was previously announced that World Beyond would be a two-season limited run series.
