Maggie has been a prominent figure on The Walking Dead since her introduction in season 2, but how old is the character supposed to be? Played by 39-year-old Lauren Cohan, Maggie wasthe eldest daughter of Hershel Greene before emerging as a vital member of Rick Grimes' group. After serving as a core character since her debut, Cohan briefly departed the AMC series in the middle of season 9. The actress has since rejoined The Walking Dead as it gears up for season 10 bonus episodes ahead of an extended eleventh and final installment.

Maggie Greene, as she was originally known, first appeared in the season 2 episode titled "Bloodletting." After the son of Rick was accidentally shot, he sought help from survivors on the Greene family farm. In time, the two groups merged, giving Maggie a chance to showcase her worth. Upon taking refuge in a nearby abandoned prison, Maggie and fellow survivor, Glenn Rhee, struck up a romantic relationship. Despite the hardships they encountered, including lost communities, deaths, and various villainous figures, the pair stayed together. Following Glenn's brutal death at the hands of Negan, Maggie, now taking the last name of Rhee, powered on to raise their son. As the years passed, Maggie took on a leadership role and spent time building new communities.

According to The Walking Dead, Maggie was around the age of 22 during her season 2 debut, which was set in October 2010. She was said to be a college student when the outbreak ravished the world, forcing her to remain with her family at the farm. Though she was greatly affected by the fallout, Maggie adapted to the environment much quicker than other members of her family. Not only is Maggie the only surviving member of the Greene family, but she's the only one of three characters introduced in the first two seasons still around on the mothership show. Based on the timeline of The Walking Dead, it's possible to calculate an age range for Maggie throughout the series thus far.

Maggie was forced to say goodbye to her father and sister by the end of The Walking Dead season 5. Since the season took place at the end of 2011, the character would have been around the age of 23. Not much time passed leading up to Glenn's death, nor the fight against Negan and the Saviors. The first major time jump occurred with season 9, fast-forwarding 18 months to the end of 2013. Maggie would have been about 25-years-old, and by this point, she had a 1-year-old son named Hershel Rhee.

Cohan appeared throughout the first episodes of season 9 as Maggie struggled with Negan's presence while he was being held in Alexandria's jail cell. "What Comes After" served as her final appearance, which also marked the arrival of a six-year time jump following Rick's presumed death. The timeline was said to be November 2019 with the jump, making Maggie somewhere in the 31-year-old range while she working alongside another group.

Maggie didn't officially return to The Walking Dead until season 10's "A Certain Doom." After receiving Carol's letters, Maggie and some of her allies return just in time to help her old friends from an attack from the Whisperers. While she reunited with some familiar faces, it seems like Maggie is back on the show for good. Unless more time jumps occur, the character will remain in her early thirties for the restof The Walking Dead.
