SCOTS TV writer Steven Moffat counted 8million in profits last year on the back of his Dracula reboot.

The ex-Doctor Who showrunners firm almost doubled its fortune on 2019 boosted by the vampire smash.

Latest accounts show he also banked more than 420,800 in royalties.Paisley-born Moffats mini-series starring Claes Bang, 53, as the legendary bloodsucker aired last January to rave reviews.

Danish actor Bangs Count was hailed for its mix of steamy scenes, humour and terror.

Moffat is a director of Hartswood Films with his wife Sue Vertue and her TV industry veteran mum Beryl. Documents show it earned 19.4million in the year to last March with a profit after tax of 8.6million.

Moffats other hits include Bafta and Emmy-winner Sherlock, with Benedict Cumberbatch as the sleuth and Martin Freeman as sidekick Dr Watson.

The drama is screened in 200 countries including China where around 98million people tuned into the last series. Moffat, who produced and wrote

He said: I did not even know how much Hartswood made or what I am earning.

And he told how his headmaster dad kickstarted his career by passing an early script hed written to telly chiefs who turned it into classic ITV kids journalism drama Press Gang in 1989.
