What happened to the cast of Young Dracula – from Hollywood success to stars of the stage – Liverpool Echo

Many will remember the stars of CBBC's Young Dracula who occupied our screens for five series - but what happened when the show came to an end?

The show followed the Dracula family who moved from Transylvania to live in a small town in Wales. But when the show returned for a third series, three years after the second aired, production moved to Liverpool.

Filming locations included the disused Margaret Bevan School, Croxteth Hall and Stanley Docks, as well as Liverpool's ECHO Arena and Convention Centre.

Some of the cast are still household names and have been part of huge British and Hollywood productions. And many of their fellow cast members have gone on to pursue careers on stage and on screen.

Here's what happened to some of the show's stars after Young Dracula came to an end.

Gerran Howell played Vlad, son of single dad Count Dracula, and went on to appear in Casualty before working with some of the world's biggest stars.

In 2017, he became a series regular in American fantasy drama Emerald City, set in the fictional land of OZ.

Two years later, he starred in British war film 1917 as Private Parry and in mini series Catch-22 as Kid Sampson, a programme which also starred George Clooney and Hugh Laurie.

Howell will also star in film Freedom's Path, about a friendship formed between a soldier and a runaway slave, which is yet to be released.

Keith-Lee Castle appeared in every series of Young Dracula and is best known for playing the infamous Count Dracula.

More recently, he played The Baron, in football hooligan spoof, The Hooligan Factory in 2014.

That same year, he also won numerous awards such as Best Actor at the NOLA Horror Film Festival for his role in horror movie short A Stranger Kind.

Since the series came to an end, he also appeared in British crime drama film We Still Steal the Old Way, which also starred James Cosmo.

Before starring in all five seasons of Young Dracula, Clare Thomas starred in the 1998 film Madeline, playing the character of Aggie.

Throughout her career, Clare has starred in several British films and TV series.

She also made an appearance in BBC One's Holby City, as the stepdaughter of a male patient.

Clare married her boyfriend Tom Prosser in 2017, and in 2020 she started a vlogging channel on YouTube where she creates videos about her daily life.

Simon Ludders played Trevor Smith in Broadchurch and Mr Swan in TV series Becoming Human.

Best known for playing Renfield in CBBC's Young Dracula, he went on to star in many notable productions since the series came to an end.

Many will recognise him for playing Peter Umbleby in the Tracy Beaker franchise The Dumping Ground.

Last year, he also starred as Humboldt in Netflix's Bridgerton.

After starring as a main character in Young Dracula from 2006 to 2008, Craig Roberts had his breakout role in Submarine, in which he won a BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Actor.

Other notable film credits include starring in the 2011 remake of Jane Eyre, The First Time alongside actor Dylan O'Brian, Bad Neighbors, 22 Jump Street and Tolkien.

He also appeared in television series Skins and Being Human and in 2021 starred in The Killers' music video for Here with Men, alongside Winona Rider. It was directed by Tim Burton.

He also directed The Phantom of the Open, a 2021 British biographical comedy starring Mark Rylance.

Throughout her career, Jo-Anne Knowles has appeared in popular soaps including ITV's Emmerdale, BBC's Eastenders and Channel 4's Hollyoaks.

But she is still well known for her role as playing Mina Van Helsing in Young Dracula.

After the series ended, she played Rosie Matthews in Waterloo Road and Annie Bottomly in Hetty Feather, a drama series based on Jacqueline Wilson's book of the same name.

After appearing numerous times in Coronation Street through the years, Jo-Anne returned to the cobbles in 2017 as character Chloe Tipton. She is now married and has a child.

Lorenzo Rodriguez starred in series 3 and 4 of Young Dracula as Wolfie Westerna.

In 2012, he played Mikey in BBC's In With The Flynns and has also had roles in Holby City, Coronation Street and drama series Blackout.

He has also performed voiceover work during his career. According to his Twitter bio, he is currently represented by Mark Jermin Management.

Before his role as Jonathan Van Helsing in Young Dracula, Terry Haywood starred in This Is England in 2006.

After starring in the first four series of the CBBC show, he played Macca in E4's My Mad Fat Diary, which also starred Sharon Rooney and Jodie Comer.

Letty Butler starred in series 3 and and 4 of Young Dracula playing the role of Alex.

On the United Agents website, it states that Letty's screenwork includes BBC's Jane Eyre, Parades End & Wolfblood, and feature films Life on the Road & Their Finest Hour. She also played Lady Gypsy in Ricky Gervais' David Brent: Life on the Road.

She is also a writer and is currently finishing her debut novel, ESCAPE ARTSTS which shes planning to adapt for screen in 2021.

According to her Twitter bio, Letty is also Co-host of the @prompetyprompt podcast.

Sydney Rae White is best known for playing the role of Erin Noble in series 3 and 4 of Young Dracula.

Before her time on the show, she appeared in both series of Disney Channel UK programme As the Bell Rings.

Since the series ended, she has starred in Sky 1's comedy-drama Starlings, Casualty, Silent Witness and BBC 4's Lost Sitcoms.

When not acting on stage or on our screens, Sydney is in the studio or on tour with her rock band, The Wild Things.

Richard Southgate played Malik in the series, but is also known for appearing in Skins, Titanic (2012) and Eve.

According to the Royal Academy of Music website, he is now a freelance videographer, video editor, photographer and actor.

The website states: "As a videographer he has spent the past four years creating promotional content on behalf of The Umbrella Rooms for shows in the West End and around the UK, shooting and editing trailers, behind-the-scenes content, recording sessions, sitzprobes and opening nights, as well as archives and livestreams of plays, musicals and concerts.

"He was recently featured in the video game Detroit: Become Human for PlayStation 4. On stage, he has worked regularly with Manchesters Ransack Theatre Company, has appeared at The Old Red Lion, and was in the original London cast of Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith and Novello Theatre in 2009."

Best known for her role as Cully Barnaby in the long-running British crime-mystery Midsomer Murders, Laura Howard starred in the fifth series of Young Dracula.

In 2012 she also appeared in Ayckbourn's The Norman Conquests at the Liverpool Playhouse.

Since the show ended, Laura has been in Doctors, Casualty and BBC's Call The Midwife.

In 2014, Cheshire Live reported how The Queens School pupil Bella Band landed a role in the CBBC drama as George Giles.

Starring in the final series, she has since went on to appear in CBBC's So Awkward and Creeped Out.

Represented by Amber Personal Management, Bella is currently rehearsing for Beauty and the Beast at the New Vic Theatre.

She recently tweeted how this was her "first professional theatre job."

Many will recognise Eleanor Gecks who starred as Faith Chattaway in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Her sister, Fiona Chattaway was portrayed by Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson.

The actress and writer starred as Talitha in the fifth and final series of Young Dracula and has also starred in other notable productions during her career.

Mark Rowley was a main character in the fifth and final series of Young Dracula.

From 2017 to 2020, he has played the role of the Irish warrior Finan in the Netflix medieval drama The Last Kingdom.

In 2020, he also starred in the BBC Two series The North Water.

He has also voiced characters in video games Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and Star Wars: Battlefront II.
