Fans Think Keanu Reeves Completely Ruined This Horror-Fantasy Classic – Looper

While Keanu Reeves certainly has chops as an action star, many fans haven't been pleased with his more dramatic work. Specifically, many people took to a Reddit thread to voice their displeasure at his casting in Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula."While the film is generally seen as a success, being nominated for several Academy Awards and earning a 76% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, many feel Keanu Reeves' performance holds the movie back.

When asked if a single character ever ruined a movie for people, Redditor u/VeganArmieHammer responded, "Keanu in Bram Stoker's Dracula is unwatchable." Many people were in agreement that Reeves brought down the film as a whole, with u/JCP1377 writing, "I found his role absolutely hilarious. Yeah the accent is awful, but his character's severe lack of self preservation is what made it so fun. The way he brushes off each instance of a creepy or supernatural event at Dracula's castle is truly spectacular."

Of course, there always has to be a dissenting opinion, and Dread Central was more than happy to provide it. During a retrospective on the film, the outlet had this to say of Reeves' performance, "I mean, it wasn't his best performance. But I don't think it's as bad as people remember it." Sometimes in film, "not as bad as people remember"can be the highest of praise.
