Man threatened to cut brakes on partner’s car and to behead her dad in chilling calls – Wales Online

A man made a series of lurid threats to his former girlfriend over the phone, a court has heard.

Christopher Lee Price threated to cut the brakes on his ex-partner's car and to plant a bomb in the vehicle so she died with a "bang". He and also threatened violence against the woman's parents.

Swansea Crown Court heard Price and the woman had been in an "on-off" relationship for some seven years and had children together but that by the summer of this year the relationship had come to an end.

Craig Jones, prosecuting, said on July 4 the 24-year-old defendant made a number of telephone calls to his former partner and the conversation between them was initially civil. However Price then began demanding that the children were taken to him and when told that was not possible he began issuing threats.

He told the woman he was going to kill her mother and chop her father's head off and said he planned to cut the brakes of her car and to plant a bomb in the vehicle.

Mr Jones said Price was "very aggressive in tone" on the phone and "insulted the complainant in lurid terms". Police were contacted and the defendant was arrested.

Price, of Cwrt Neville, Llanelli, admitted making threats to kill and a malicious communications offence. The court heard he has an "extensive criminal record" including offences of violence, dishonesty, and public order matters. He had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for assaulting his ex's new partner when he made the threatening phone calls.

David Singh, for Price, said the defendant's history of offending was linked to his drug addiction. He said his client had found being held in prison on remand pending sentence "a positive experience" as he was now free of drugs and he said the defendant had every incentive to stay drug-free as his brother had offered him work upon his release.

Price was jailed for nine months.

Dyfed-Powys Police does not release custody photographs for defendants sentenced to less than 12 months in prison.
