Rick Summers, 74, of Lebanon died Tuesday at his home surrounded by family.

Rick was born in Bend to Wyman and Loni (Johnson) Summers. He grew up in Lebanon and later attended Oregon State University where he played baseball. After graduating in 1968, he continued his baseball career with the Eugene Emeralds.

Rick earned a PhD from Oregon State University and was a pharmacist at Cent-Wise Drugs for many years.

He loved sports, but his family was his greatest passion.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children Sloan Anne Duffy of Sanford, North Carolina, Loni-Caye Johnson of Wilsonville, Christopher Lee Summers of Poland, Maine, Kevin Forrest Couey of Independence, Carmen Michelle Frederic of Prescott, Arizona, and Michael Lewis Badger of Aloha; brother Steven Craig Summers of Corvallis; sister, Jodi Paige Kolling of Lebanon; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Southside Church of Christ in Lebanon.
