THEYVE arrived back in the East End from their South African adventure for more births, deaths and adventures.

The nuns and nurses from Nonnatus House returned for a sixth series on Sunday January 22, with many familiar faces being welcomed backto the fold.

But what will this series be about and whos in the cast? Heres what we know.

The next episode of Call the Midwife airson BBC One on Sunday March 5at 8pm.

This is the seventh episode in series six, out of a total of eight.

Call the Midwife is a BBC drama series about a group of midwives working in the east end of London in the 1950s and 1960s.

They are based at the fictional nursing convent Nonnatus House in Poplar district carrying out nursing and midwife duties.

The show is based on the memoirs of the same name by Jennifer Worth.

Some familiar faces have returnedfor the sixth series including Vanessa Redgrave who has narrated the show since it began in 2012.

Sadly for fans, Miranda Hart will not return as Camilla Chummy Noakes after she quit the show last August.

Jenny is a veteran British actress of stage and screen and is best known for her roles as Roberta in the 1970 film The Railway Children, Jessica 6 in Logans Run and Nurse Alex Price in An American Werewolf in London.

In recent years she has starred as Tessa Phillips in the BBC spy drama series Spooks and Councilwoman Hawley in The Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Dame Harriet has joined the cast as has replaced Sister Julienne as the new head of Nonnatus House, much to the nuns and midwives dismay.

The actress, 66, is best known recently for her role as Clementine Churchill in the Netflix series The Crown and as Lady Prudence Shackleton in Downton Abbey.

The niece of the late acting legend Sir Christopher Lee, Dame Harriet is also known for her roles in Sense and Sensibility, The Governess, Atonement and Law & order UK as well as her extensive work with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Lindas television credits include Lark Rise to Candleford and Grandmas House and she starred as downtrodden wife Ella Khan in the film East is East.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Helen is best known for her role as the glamorous midwife.

She took part in the thirteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing, was paired with Aljaz Skorjanec and finished in sixth place.

Charlotte is one of the newer members of the Midwife cast.

Before that she starred as Melissa Oregon Shawcross in the Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat and she is a member of the classical crossover band All Angels.

Cliff is best known for his role as Minty Peterson in EastEnders, which he played from 2002 to 2010.

Stephen is one of a family of acting brothers including Joe, Paul and Mark andstarred as Sean Reynolds in Emmerdale from 1999 to 2002.

A veteran of the stage, he has starred in productions including Blood Brothers, Art and Footloose.

He is married to Call The Midwife writer Heidi Thomas.
