Godzilla Vs. Kong: 10 Monster Pairs We’d Love To See Battle Each Other – Screen Rant

King Kong and Godzilla are set to duke it out in the near future, but here are 10 other epic monster battles we would find even more thrilling.

Godzilla might be the king of the kaiju, and Kong might be the most recognizable ape outside of a Nintendo game, but they certainly aren't the first famous monsters to lock horns over a host of humans in the crossfire. Freaks and fiends of the silver screen have been mingling as early as the days ofFrankenstein.

When famous monsters fight, things get over-the-top and ridiculous to the point of rigamarole statusbut isn't that kind of the point? Godzilla and King Kong might be the nearest title bout in the future, but there are others fans would be just as thrilled to see, no matter how bizarre.

Classics never die, and, since both Count Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster are in the public domain, anything from a Syfy Original Movie to a major summer blockbuster could bring these two together. Although, the script would have to be golden to be taken seriously.

The Universal Monsters are icons of the horror genre, and, with the failure of the Dark Universe, wouldn't it be great if they released a classic creature feature just for the fun of it? Time to get back to the roots.

Speaking of the Dark Universe, the next film in the flopped franchise was supposed to have been a take onThe Phantom of the Opera.Getting the two together would be a stretch, but not impossible. Plus, the script could open up new ways of interpreting the source material.

The undead Egyptian in question doesn'thaveto be Tom Cruise's version, and there are plenty of museums in Paris for the Phantom to sneak into. Come to think of it, this could be a very versatile story.

When it comes to killer families, the two biggest in the genre have to be the Sawyers ofThe Texas Chainsaw Massacreand the Firefly Family fromHouse of 1000 Corpses.Honestly, how has Rob Zombie not made this idea into a movie yet?

Both families are remarkably similar; a group of redneck psychopaths in the middle of Texas who enjoy torturing and mutilating travelers could make for a real Hatfield-and-McCoy-esque feud. Plus, who wouldn't want to see Leatherface rip into Otis?

Although it might technically be monster hunter vs. monster hunter, a crossover between the two certainly wouldn't be unwanted. So long as del Toro is in charge, this concept would be rich with classic creature feature flair.

Naturally, the film would more than likely see the two characters joining together to fight a common enemy (Dracula perhaps?) and squaring off with a whole nest of vampires. Simple, but oh so effective.

Holidays are a time for get-togethers, and wouldn't it be grand if the terrifying trick-or-treater threw down with the Shadow of St. Nicholas? Both of Michael Dougherty's creations know how to spread a little holiday fear, so it would certainly be interesting to see the two come together over some strange and scary circumstances.

Maybe someone's tired of people dressing up as Santa on Halloween, maybe someone doesn't like there being two scary holidays on the calendar. Either way, the two characters have more than enough reasons to throw down.

Silent but deadly, both of these classic slasher characters share enough in common to warrant a grudge match. Maybe Laurie Strode and her family make the mistake of hiding out near Camp Crystal Lake and things turn into an all-out turf war?

Jason might have Michael beat in strength and size, but the Shape can certainly hold his own with his resistance and resilience alone. Viewers might be in for a decently long fight.

Freddy has already thrown razored-hands against Jason, but what if he grappled with another demonic creature that preyed on people's nightmares? Like the previous entry, it would certainly be a lengthy and interesting fight.

Both Freddy and Pennywise have sick senses of humor, sometimes verging on cartoony, but their tenacity and vicious appetites for the souls of young victims certainly would cause a rivalry. As seen inFreddy Vs. Jason,Krueger doesn't take too kindly to people horning in on his victims, and Pennywise would be quite the contender.

Now, this would be a fight that would be streamed across the galaxy. Both the Xenomorph and the Thing are some of the most terrifying creatures from across the stars, seeing them battle would be an outright bloodbath.

The only thing that could make this concept all the more terrifying would be a hybrid between the two terrors. At that point, even Predator would need some serious backup to stop that monstrosity.

It might seem like a strange combo at first, but, since King Kong and Clover both have the common battleground of New York City, this pairing might very well be in the realm of possibility. Granted, some serious creative liberties would need to be taken.

That being said, Clover, whether reanimated or a new species, would have some serious advantages over the big ape. But, if Kong can battle various beasts on Skull Island, who's to say he couldn't rip the beast from the deep apart?

One's a gigantic reptile with radioactive powers beloved by a sea of fans, the other is Godzilla. Joking aside, Gamera is an often overlooked Godzilla-alternative that could be growing tired of living in the big guy's shadow. Maybe it's time for a little action?

Although an attempt was made to bring them together in 2002, the colossal kaiju still haven't found their way to a title match. With the resurgence of kaiju popularity, maybe Gamera could see a remake in the future?
