Eight Charli DAmelio-Led Horror Movies Might Be On the Way – Teen Vogue

Charli DAmelio is officially going to be a movie star.

The TikTok phenom will make her acting debut as the lead of the upcoming supernatural horror film Home School. Charli will play 17-year-old Mira, a girl who moves to a new town to live with her aunt after her mother passes away. After arriving in what seems like the all-too-perfect town, Mira soon discovers that her mothers death and her own future are intertwined supernaturally, reads the film's short synopsis, per Deadline.

Described as The Sixth Sense meets Get Out by the film's producer Ryan Kavanaugh, the thriller flick will be Charli's first live-action feature film.

Charli has previously voice acted for the animated family film StarDog and TurboCat, and has made multiple live-action appearances on reality shows like Celebrity Family Feud and her family's own Hulu series The D'Amelio Show, which was renewed for a second season back in November 2021.

As soon as I read Home School, I knew it was for me. I connected with the character, Mira, the story, the script, and the team. I knew if I was going to do a movie, it needed to be something fun, edgy, and fresh, DAmelio said in a statement about the film. While the role will certainly be challenging and push me to learn to act and become Mira, its a fun ride and meant to be fun to make and fun to watch. I also wanted to make sure I surrounded myself with a great team.

Home School will be directed by F. Javier Gutirrez, most known for directing 2017's The Ring sequel Rings. According to Deadline, the upcoming supernatural horror film is currently being considered as the first installment of an eight-film franchise, all starring Charli.

Director Gutirrez stated that he can't wait to work with Charli, and shared his confidence in the project: With its compelling visuals and a strong psychological element, I think Home School has the potential to be a modern classic.

Uh, wow. The possible franchise will also be a complete family affair, as Charli's parents Marc and Heidi and her sister Dixie D'Amelio will all be on board the project, serving as executive producers alongside Kavanaugh's producing team. Per Deadline, the film is expected to start production in July 2022.

Could Charli really make the leap from TikTok starlet to horror's next big Scream Queen? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
