Castle Rock is a horror anthology series, currently streaming on Netflix. Each episode of this series, which is set in the fictional town of Castle Rock in Maine, is inspired by horror maestro Stephen Kings works. Whats more interesting is that these episodes arent just a direct iteration of Kings characters or themes, but beautifully weave them with the make-believe town for a compelling binge, with a side of screams.

Over the years, weve seen some great slasher flicks, but Hush takes the crown for its gripping narrative of a deaf writer, Maddies (played by Kate Siegel) near escape from a masked killer, who wipes out almost everyone who stands in between them. Notably, the film uses ambient sounds to depict her fears, which chill you more than the killers first reveal.

No, not the film franchise, but an anthology series, based on the cult Scream films has found a place in our list. It follows a similar premise, but instead of Sidney, the protagonist of the slasher films, this series follows a group of teenagers that are being stalked and targeted by a masked serial killer. Though Screams brilliant tale has been told over a hundred times, this show successfully manages to grasp your attention and also scare you with its production.

A true-crime writer finds a box of videotapes, depicting gruesome murders in the very house hes just bought and moved into with his family, and you already know that this cannot end well! However, purely from a visual perspective, the films stunning camerawork, an occult presence plastered with a dastardly smile and other horror cliches work very well on you and your dreams. Yes, the aftereffects of this one will be far more damning than Bulbbuls witch.

Greed, gold and the curse of a demon god the rich visual storytelling in Tumbbad directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Anand Gandhiencompasses all that and more. Set in Maharashtra, between 1918 and 1947, this horror film follows three generations of a Konkanastha Brahmin family who seek an ancestral treasure that has been jinxed by the gods.

Paris yet another gem from Anushka Sharmas arsenal (she really loves horror, doesnt she?). The plot revolves around Arnabs (played by Parambrata Chatterjee) discovery of Rukhsana (played by Anushka Sharma). He finds her chained in a hut. And as he tries to help her, he realises that Rukhsana may not be who he thinks she is. In the process of still looking out for her as he cares about her, he comes across her connection with a satanic cult and a demon.

Set in 1991, Veronica is a Spanish horror flick directed by Paco Plaza. It follows 15-year-old Veronicas life, who gets possessed by an evil spirit after taking part in a sance using an Ouija board with her friends, during a solar eclipse. This spirit consumes her life. She even starts hearing strange noises and nasty bite marks start appearing on her body. She reaches out to her friends to understand whats happening to her and they tell her that she said during the sance that shes going to die in three days. Cut to 72 hours later, her prediction comes true but at the cost of many terrifying incidents.
