Although Victor Salazar is Ciminos first leading role, this isnt his first time acting. Before Love, Victor, the Las Vegas native built up a decent yet diverse resum of acting roles. He appeared in CBS short-lived series Training Day and the TV film No Child Left Behind. Most recently, he played the role of Bob Palmeri in the 2019 film Annabelle Comes Home, the seventh installment of the Conjuring franchise.

When hes not falling in love on the small screen, he's often dabbling in music. The actor often shows off his singing and guitar skills with various covers across his social media accounts. He even has a tune on the soundtrack for Annabelle Comes Home, Everything I Own. Maybe this is something we might see Victor explore if Hulu greenlights a second season?

Although Cimino doesnt identify as gay, he does have a cousin who struggled with coming out. I asked him about his story and how it affected him, he told Gay Times. We kind of went on a deep dive into what affected him in what ways I wanted to represent his struggle.

In a recent interview with Variety, he also explained how he prepared for the role of Victor. ... I watched the movie 16 times. Nick [Robinson] did such a great job in the movie, so I took a lot from that.

While Love, Simon showed the coming out story of a white affluent male, Love, Victor does it from a conservative Latinx perspective, a tale that isnt always shown in Hollywood. Cimino hopes that with the show, young people will relate to Victors struggle.

I do feel like some people will be able to relate to this story in particular because they havent had the blessings to know exactly what decision they were making, he told Good Morning America. I just feel really honored to represent a different struggle than the one Simon went through.
