Halloween in June: The Festive, Macabre, and Cute – JCK – JCK

This time every yearnever failsI start to long for autumn. Its such clockwork that I bet if I were to flip back to my archives from a year ago, I would find myself writing a similar (if not exactly the same) line. Im not sure if its the changing of the seasons (officially) from spring to summer, the sometimes-spooky thunderstorms, or the fact that theres been a fall-like tinge to the weather right now, but I find myself planning a little Halloween in June.

Halloween itself isnt even really that far away, if you consider how quickly the time seems to go (even IN quarantine). But who knows what the holiday will look like this yearIm fairly certain it wont be like any otherand what else are we doing at the moment but looking for new ways to enjoy our time at home, anyway?

So while I plan my unseasonal festivities (perhaps well carve a watermelon?), Im keen to find new Halloween-esque jewels to celebrate my made-up holiday. Already percolating with the urge to light a pumpkin candle and power up a scary movie, I was moved by the Lauren Newtons Secret Skull ring (pictured at top), which jumped from the page when I was browsing her website. A tiny skull appears to float behind a mesmerizing opal pear, in a setting that dips into a V framedby a trio of diamonds. Its so yummy.

Which brings me to my main point: Spiders, skulls, snakes, pumpkin-like gems are all perfect candidates to rock all fall long, but theyre really, very compatible with any time of year. What in one month may be perceived as ghoulishly gorgeous may in another represent rebel chic, with nary a hint of All Hallows Eve.

So if you prefer to live in the moment and soak up the summer rather than forge an early fall (even for a day or two), never fear (or, if youre into Halloween, maybe do fear!). Either way, these wonderfully wicked jewels are sure to be customer favorites all year long.
