MBTI: 5 Horror Movies That INTPs Will Love (5 They Will Hate) – Screen Rant

Horror movies aren't always to everyone's taste. But that does not mean horror films cannot be accessible to all audiences with their clever premises, intriguing characters and scary elements. Nowadays, with the quality of films being raised higher every year and genre films getting cleverer, some of the latest horror films are celebrated for being cerebral and thought-provoking.

Thus, moviegoers under the MBTI classification INTP (introverted, intuitive, thinking, perceiving) can get behind some of historys greatest cinematic suspense films, both old and new. Here are five horror films that INTPs will surely love (and five others they need to avoid).

It Follows centers on a girl named Jay (Maika Monroe), who becomes an unwitting target of a paranormal entity after having sex. The film may have a peculiar premise, but the benefit comes in the engrossing experience and naturalistic scares.

INTPs can easilybecome engrossed with director David Robert Mitchells clever setup of using the it monster as an allegory of teenage paranoia and sexual anxiety. And Jays determination to find the source of it really engages their minds.

Of all the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies that INTPs can wallow over, the Michael Bay reboot prequel stands out as the most detestable. This entry features the origin story of Leatherface and his first killings, including two drafted men and their girlfriends.

Director Jonathan Liebesman throws rhyme and reason out of the window to showcase all the extreme gore. As a result, INTPs will find it more repugnantly unpleasant than cleverly scary. And thedisjointed story does not add favors.

An art house horror classic, Suspiria follows American ballet student Suzy on her quest to excel in a prestigious German dance academy. But as a string of murders takes place in the academy, she discovers a sinister supernatural conspiracy that challenges her sanity.

Part-art deconstruction and part-exploitation picture, Suspiria balances the aesthetics and the scares to create a vivid experience. And while they may be detracted with the lack of a coherent story, INTPs will eat up the eye-popping, mind-bending imagery.

Back again to the wheelhouse of director Jonathan Liebesman, Darkness Falls takes the Tooth Fairy folklore (yes, really) and turns it into a supernatural horror film. The movie centers on the Fairys vengeful return to the town who lynched her. And the one standing on her way is a child who witnessed his mothers murder by the witch fairy.

INTPs willsee through the logic fails of the horror elements, whichconfuses them more than intrigues. Therefore, the movie becomes plainly scare-free.

From the mind of Jordan Peele comes the subversive horror film Get Out. A game changer in the genre, the film takes the Guess Whos Coming to Dinner? template and applies it to the story of Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), whose girlfriend (Allison Williams) invites him to stay at her parents place, where something sinister is afoot.

Both a horrorfilm and a think piece, Get Out will surely catch the attention of INTPs over the racial commentary, the master filmmaking, and the legitimate scares.

From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan comes the next attempt of an environmental allegory in The Happening. Presented as a disaster film, the killer is basically an airborne toxin that triggers its hosts to kill themselves. And at the center of it is schoolteacher Elliot (Mark Wahlberg), his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) and their friends daughter Jess.

Aside from the atrocious script and the laughable performances, the films science will make INTPs cry foul. The logic of nature retaliating against humans is mind-bogglingly dumb.

An earlier landmark in the horror and sci-fi genre, Alien takes the claustrophobic experience of creature movies to space. Taking place aboard the spaceship Nostromo en route to Earth, this sci-fi horror classic centers on the titular alien, a dangerous Xenomorph of unknown origin, which gruesomely hunts down the crew.

Gripping and terrifying, Alien will surely entertain INTPs for its clever premise, the ships neat production design and a compelling character in Sigourney Weavers Ellen Ripley. There is a lot for them to analyze after.

On the other hand, placing the Alien in the same frame with another iconic extraterrestrial may not be a good idea. Case in point, Alien vs. Predator. This crossover finds the two brute aliens battling for superiority in the Antarctica landscape, while a group of archaeologists becomes unwitting witnesses to their strife.

Expect this crossover to disregard character consistency, firm logic and franchise continuity for the sake of dull pacing and shaky action, something irritating for INTPs. As the tagline say, Whoever wins, we lose.

When one encounters a Stanley Kubrick film, he or she must expect a thought-provoking experience that requires full attention. This is clearin his adaptation of Stephen Kings The Shining. For the unfamiliar, the film focuses on Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), a struggling writer who accepts a job to oversee a winter lodge with his family. But the hotels drastic past takes a toll on the family.

Whether seeing it as pure horror or an allegory of any topical issues, INTPs will be rewarded for the genuine scares, the atmospheric design and the thoughtful theories.

If there is anything to take away from The Devil Inside, it is a horror film with no resolution in the final product. That easily brings the red flags to those expecting more. In found-footage fashion, the movie chronicles a woman who joins a team of priests on investigating her mothers possession that led her to murder.

Cue the heinous plot, contrived scares and loose filmmaking logic that botches the film. And INTPs will easily be frustrated over the one-dimensional characters and their illogical (and unethical) decisions. However, the ending willleave them fuming.
