Paramount reportedly making top secret prequel to one of the greatest horror movies of all time – JOE.ie

Returning to classic horror franchises does seem to be all the rage right now.

After the remakes/legacy sequels to both Halloween and IT proved to be so financially successful, Hollywood very quickly looked around at what other old school scary movies they could potentially revisit.

Last year we reported on Universal spending $400 million on a planned new trilogy of Exorcist movies, while a potential sequel to A Nightmare On Elm Street is also in the works.

However, another stone cold horror classic may be getting the prequel treatment, and most surprisingly, the movie has already been shot.

Apartment 7A is produced by John Krasinski and Michael Bay (who previously worked together on the A Quiet Place movies), and it is directed and co-written by Natalie Erika James, who previously gave us 2020's incredibly creepy Relic (92% on Rotten Tomatoes).

The movie stars Julia Garner (Ozark, and maybe the upcoming Madonna biopic) and two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (In Treatment, Edward Scissorhands), while the plot for the movie has been kept firmly under wraps.

However, there are some hints on the movie's IMDb page to be found. Amy Leeson (The King's Man) is playing a character named Rosemary Woodhouse, Scott Hume (The Crown) is playing someone named Guy Woodhouse, and Kevin McNally (the Pirates of the Caribbean series) is playing Roman Castavet.

If you're a fan of the vintage horror movie in question, then you'll likely have already figured out that these are all the central characters from 1968's Oscar-winning Rosemary's Baby.

According to a report by Bloody Disgusting, the movie will focus on the woman who died outside the apartment when Rosemary moved in, which is likely to be the character played by Garner.

As the movie is already in post-production, there is a chance we could be seeing it before the end of 2022. A classic horror prequel this Halloween? Watch this space...
