Radcliffe warns kids to not watch 'scary' new flick

HARRY Potter star Daniel Radcliffe said fans will be
"genuinely scared" watching his new film, warning that it
is not suitable for young children.

The actor stars in the film adaptation of the play The
Woman in Black, which premiered in London this week.

It is his first film role since finishing the Harry
Potter franchise. Radcliffe has only
ever portrayed the boy wizard on the big screen - landing the
part when he was just 10 years old.

Now aged 22, he said it was "refreshing" to play a new role
and was "thrilled" to step into the horror genre.

But he warned against taking very young children to see the
movie, which was given the UK film rating 12A, meaning
children under 12 can see the movie only if accompanied by an
adult.

"It's pretty scary," Radcliffe told Sky News. "I know it's
got a 12A rating, but I would think long and hard if you are
thinking about taking a kid under 12 because it's a very,
very, genuinely frightening film. You will be scared."

Radcliffe added that getting involved in the project was an
"easy decision" and said he was hooked after reading the
script.

Harry Potter and
the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 received three
nominations for this year's Oscars in the art direction,
makeup and visual effects categories.

Radcliffe said he was "thrilled" with the recognition and not
disappointed that the movie is not up for best film.

"It's a completely objective thing," he said. "It is the most
successful franchise worldwide in the history of film, so I
don't know how much more of a pat on the back we need."
