Sequel Bits: ‘Hatchet 3,’ ‘Star Trek 2,’ ‘Scary Movie 5,’ and ‘Prometheus’

From theEighties, Nineties and up through today, this edition of sequel bits spans the decades. After the jump read about the following:

The third Hatchet film, Hatchet 3, is now filming in Louisana and the Hollywood Reporter has some interesting casting news. Camera operator B.J. McDonnell is directing the film, which was written by series creator and director of the first two films, Adam Green. Itll once again follow the murderous exploits of Victor Crowley but, this time, hell have some 80s stars at the end of his hatchet.

First up is Zach Galligan, a name you may not recognize, but a face you definitely do. He was the start of both Gremlins movies and will play the head of local law enforcement in the film. Hell be joined by Cody Blue Snider, son of Twisted Sisters Dee Snider, playing a deputy.

We may not know exactly who Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in J.J. Abrams Star Trek 2 but, in this interview he did with the BBC (via Trek Movie), you can tell he certainly enjoyed the experience. He also explains a bit of why he cant say who hes playing. It starts at 1:15, before that is Sherlock talk.

Speaking of Star Trek 2, actor Michael Dorn who famously played Worf on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine told Trek Movie he was asked to appear in Star Trek 2 but the production changed their minds after he said yes. Heres the quote:

They called in November or December of last year and said Hey, we would like to know if Michael is interested in playing a part of an officer a soldier. And we said yes. Then time went by and we finally talked to them at maybe the end of January or February and they said they had changed their mind and thats as far as it went.

Malcolm Lee (Roll Bounce, Undercover Brother) is gearing up to direct Scary Movie 5 from a script by David Zucker and a report from Variety (via Bloody Disgusting) confirmes that itll spoof films such as Black Swan (as we knew), Paranormal Activity, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and 127 Hours. Whos excited? Anyone?

Finally, as if the reviews of Prometheus that are rolling out arent enough, Trailer Addict (via Comic Book Movie) has posted several clips from the film. Im embedding one here, the rest are at the above links.
