Star Wars Spoof Coming From Scary Movie Writers

Scary Movie co-writersJason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are going to a galaxy far, far away for their next comedy. The duo are set to write and direct a Star Wars spoof, titled Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.

Covert Medias CEO Paul Hanson, who made the announcement on Wednesday, is producing the film alongside Broken Road Productions Todd Garner. Friedberg and Seltzers credits include the five Scary Movies, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck.

The project is currently in pre-production and is targeting a Fall 2017 shoot. Star Worlds is being fully financed by Covert Media, with the companylaunching worldwide sales in Berlin.

Star Worlds will be the second project for Covert and Broken Road under their two-year first-look deal. The two companies are currently working on the thriller Resurface, announced at last years Cannes Film Festival.

Coverts Elissa Friedman, Media Content Capitals Sasha Shapiroand Anton Lessineand Broken Roads Jeremy Steinserve as executive producers on the film.

Friedberg and Seltzer are represented by Fourth Wall Management and Paradigm. The deal was negotiated by Coverts Chet Devaskar, EVP of Legal and Business Affairs and Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
