The Harry Potter star that all the child actors were scared of on set including Rupert Grint and Tom Felton – My London

The young actors that starred in the incredible Harry Potter franchise have revealed there was one actor who terrified them on set.

Alan Rickman sent fear through children all over the world as his character Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise, and the young actors were no different.

The Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher with a controlled exterior and mysterious personality is arguably one of the greatest characters in the movie series.

Many Harry Potter fans have a lot of love and adoration for the late Alan Rickman, who was iconic in the incredible role, but this was not necessarily the case at the time.

While many love him now, it turns out that during filming many of the young cast were just as terrified of him in real life as in the films.

Rupert Grint, who starred in the hit franchise as the lovable Ron Weasley, previously said: "I was terrified of Alan Rickman because he stayed in character all the time. My favourite scenes were those with all the Weasleys and my surrogate mum, Julie Walters.

Its only in the last couple of years that Ive realised how amazing the cast is. In the early days, I just thought of them as a load of old people mostly friendly, sometimes intimidating.

During a TikTok video, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, was asked by a fan what it was like working with Alan.

Tom similarly said: "Scary. He was the only actor I knew, and he was terrifying in the most pleasant way.

But very, very kind. Wicked sense of humour. I just met him when I was 12, so it took me a few years to be able to have enough courage to say anything more than "hi."...a privilege, a real privilege.

Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, has also said: On his last day I went to his trailer, and even knocking on his door was terrifying.

Following Alans death in 2016, Daniel Radcliffe said he was one of the loyalest and most supportive people Ive ever met in the film industry.
