The episode drew an impressive 12 million viewers (via ComicBook.com), with a 5.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. By comparison, episode 8 'Hearts Still Beating' managed 10.58 million.

In fact, episode 9 had the best figures since the first two episodes of the season.

The next episode 'New Best Friends' sees Rick hoping to recruit a new group as allies - but it's not going to be easy.

And in case you were wondering, no, Gabriel did not betray Rick at the start of 'Rock in the Road' - and in fact was seen seemingly being taken against his will.

"If you notice, there is a moment when he gets in the car, and the car's driving away, and somebody sits up in the seat next to him. Not alone," executive producer Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly.

The Walking Dead continues next Sunday (February 19) on AMC in the US, and on Monday (February 20) on FOX in the UK.
