Josh McDermitt, AKA Eugene In ‘The Walking Dead’ Is Getting Death Threats – Konbini US

In season 7 ofThe Walking Dead, Eugene became the number one enemy of Rick and the Alexandrians. The scientist who already did a number on us with the Washington pseudo vaccine betrayed his own and joined forces with Negan.

As optimistic fans, a lot of us never questioned his allegiance to Rick. So it was a huge disappointment when we saw him chanting "I am Negan" at the gates of Alexandria, with an army of Saviors behind him.

If Eugene's real plan is to infiltrate the Saviors and take out Negan from the inside, he's got us all fooled.

In the meantime, the actor who plays Eugene, Josh McDermitt, who is described as a smart and funny guy, is suffering IRL from his character's choices.

Fans ofThe Walking Dead seem to have a nasty habit of confusing fact and fiction. It's gotten to the point where they've started attacking the actor on social media.

But of course, Eugene's betrayal was ultimately created by the screenwriters, not the actor. But now that the scientist comes across as a coward who's picking the strongest side to survive, trolls have gone so far as to send Josh McDermitt death threats, saysUproxx.

Faced with personal attacks and threatening messages, the actor decided to close his Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts for the time being, with the following message:

Death threats, dont send me death threats, because I will report all that s to the cops. Im just sick of it. You can hate Eugene, I dont care.

You can think whatever you want but when you start saying you hope I die, I dont know if youre talking about Josh or Eugene. I gotta report that s, so, just dont be an ahole.

And just stop complaining. Just stop complaining about everything on the Internet. Just go spend time with your family or friends or loved ones. Just get off the Internet. I love you, I do. I love you guys."

Fortunately, Josh McDermitt has a big fan base to support him, and the actor isn't afraid to call people out when necessary. He spoke out in 2016 when people were body shaming Alanna Masterson, a.k.a. Tara in the show, when the actress was pregnant.

In any case, likingThe Walking Dead is no excuse to act like a psychopath on social media, especially if you're confusing actors with their fictional characters.
