Official Walking Dead cookbook and survival guide coming this fall – SYFY WIRE (blog)

In case you were looking for something to eat while watching The Walking Dead, help has arrived. And no, we're not talking about human flesh.

It's actually hard to imagine working up an appetite while seeing walkers and humans go at it in gory fashion every week, but in tandem with this October's return of the show for its eighth season, author Lauren Wilson is publishing The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide.

Inside, you'll find recipes inspired by the show as well as tips on subjects like foraging, hunting wild game, preparing meals outdoors, and lots more that you would undoubtedly need to learn in the event of a zombie apocalypse (and yes, as you can see, Carol's famous cookies are in there too).

Here's the official synopsis from the publisher:

The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide details the skills and recipes anyone would need to survive (while trying to avoid being eaten!) during an unexpected walker apocalypse. The cookbook features more than sixty mouthwatering recipes for breakfast, dinner, drinks, and even dessert, including iconic meals inspired by those featured on the show, such as Carls Chocolate Pudding, Carol Peletiers Cookies, and Daryl Dixons Deer Stew.

Don't know about you, but I'm guessing some of these dishes taste pretty ... gritty, especially anything cooked up by Daryl. Nevertheless, if you ever wanted to see whether you could make it on the things they eat on the show, now's your chance.

The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide is out October 10 from Insight Editions, while The Walking Dead kicks off Season 8 with its 100th episode on October 22.
