The Walking Dead season 7 finale is "pure adrenaline" and "very different" to past episodes – Digital Spy

Season 7 of The Walking Dead is running head-long into its inevitably bloody conclusion, so the news that its finale is set to be nothing like previous outings has us very excited.

Greg Nicotero - executive producer and director of the upcoming finale - has teased a "very different" conclusion to what we've seen before, promising that fans will finally see "redemption".

Talking to Comicbook.com, Greg, who also directed the most recent episode 'Say Yes', revealed that shooting the finale came down to instinct.

"It was a blast to shoot, and we all went on pure adrenaline and pure instinct," he revealed. "And it was really, really a great experience."

Admitting that this season's ending will be "very different", Greg also teased that fans of the show will see "redemption" for the 'deep, dark journey' of this season's first half.

"These episodes are really fulfilling this journey that we dragged our audience down in these deep, dark places in the first half of the season, to serve this redemption," he said.

"And it's really important that our audience understands that, listen, sometimes you're watching something that might be uncomfortable, but there is a means to the end. The satisfying aspect of these episodes is because we built to it."

The Walking Dead continues tonight (March 6) at 9pm on FOX in the UK, and on Sunday (March 12) on AMC in the US.
