"The Walking Dead" Shuffles Onto Facebook

With the popular franchise The Walking Dead infiltrating all forms of media, it should come as no surprise that it would stumble its way to the ultimate social media networkFacebook. Yes, your favorite characters are heading to a timeline near you, as this marks the third video game endeavor for The Walking Dead in so many months but this one happens to be free-to-play.

Developed by Eyes Wide Games, The Walking Dead social game will allow players to try their hands at surviving the infection with the aid of their friends while also visiting locations from the series and meeting the likes of Rick Grimes, his best friend Shane and other memorable characters. Blending elements of strategy and survival-horror to create a unique, tensioned-filled social gaming experience will surely make fans of the franchise happy and hopefully will introduce it to new audiences. Gamers are faced with an ever-present threat from man-eating zombies (called "walkers"), and must use combat, stealth and trickery to stay alive and complete missions in their quest to survive the apocalypse.

The game will also offer a stat system based on your character's attributes such as stamina, shooting accuracy, range of movement and vision. As you progress, you earn points based on your skill, which enables you to improve on these stats. This will allow all players to customize the skill-set of their squad members. But keep in mind, just as in the series, no one is safe and even your own Facebook friends can turn against you and attack as blood-thirsty walkers. Similar to the PS3 version, The Walking Dead social game will be released in chapter formats with the first serving as a prequel. More chapters are expected to launch soon with the fourth chapter moving concurrently with the third season of the popular AMC television show which premieres October 14th.
