THE WALKING DEAD’s Rick Grimes Spin-Off Film Rumored to Have a Hard R-Rating – GeekTyrant

It looks like things are back in motion at AMC in regards to the Rick Grimes film that is being made in collaboration with Universal. The first of two films had been set to begin shooting in 2019, but was delayed once, then sort of indefinitely by the 2020 restrictions. But the film is finally heading to production, and a new report says the movie will have a hard R-rating.

The news comes from reliable scooper Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page (via CB), which falls in line with how the film has previously been described. Scott Gimple, who penned the script with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, previously suggested his script would be rated R when he compared the film to Logan, which touts the rating for strong brutal violence and language throughout.

The film, which will welcome back Andrew Lincoln as Rick, former leader of the Walking Dead family that started it all, will pick back up with the character who had been injured, as was thought to have died by his group. Viewers saw that Grimes was actually picked up in a helicopter by a mysterious group that was in communication with the character Anne/Jadis, who coordinated his abduction.

Lincoln previously compared his characters return to the Clint Eastwood R-rated western Unforgiven. Given all the comparisons, an R-rating seems like a solid assumption. Are you looking forward to this Walking Dead film?
