The Walking Dead’s Rosita explains why she’s turned into such a jerk – Digital Spy

Pretty much as soon as The Walking Dead season seven came back from its two-month hiatus, we noticed Rosita Espinosa's personality had changed a bit since the finale. And definitely not for the better (certainly as far as her companions are concerned).

Luckily, the actress who plays Rosita, Christian Serratos, knows exactly what's been going on, and was able to explain everything when we sat down to talk to her about it this morning.

During the mid-season finale, Rosita was bonded with the group, she was nodding to Sasha she seemed happy. But in the second half, she's changed a little bit, become a bit meaner perhaps...

Norman Reedus: "She's a jerk!"

...How did you feel about that change?

Christian Serratos: "I was excited about it, because we're seeing what trauma will do to her. That's what I love about this show, these people, these stories what they go through and how it affects them. Sometimes that happens in ways that the fans like, and sometimes that happens in ways the fans aren't used to. And the fans aren't used to seeing her being as outspoken as she has been, and it's a little sharp she's being a little sharp.

"But that's something that can happen to an individual, even to us in normal life, we can all be pleasant one moment, and go through something traumatic and that can easily push us over the edge, make us act out in a way that's unpleasant. That's what we're seeing, and I was fascinated by it, and excited to play it."

And will that tension with Sasha come to a head?

Christian Serratos: "That's a possibility seeing this volcano explode, we're seeing the tension, I think that's interesting, we're seeing this tension, we'll see where it builds to. But I love working with Sonequa [Martin-Green]. In the first episode of this season we saw them share a common understanding, a bond of some sort you weren't quite sure what it was, but there was something there.

"That was really exciting to do with someone like Sonequa because we feel so comfortable with each other. We can just let it all hang out and give the most honest performance. Then now, getting to battle each other a little bit, it's even more fun for us! We're so close, we're all so tight, and now we're getting to give each other some attitude, it's been fun."
