Star Wars’ Most Dangerous Army Isn’t the Jedi – OR the Sith | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Star Wars: The Clone Wars showed there was an army potentially more dangerous than the Jedi or the Sith on the planet Dathomir.

The world of Star Wars takes place in a galaxy where power is largely divided between the Jedi and the Sith. These two sides have long been at war with one another. However, there is a third pillar in this conflict that may be smaller in nature, but that is just as dangerous: the Nighsisters.

The Nightsisters and their leader Mother Talzin were dark witches first introduced in the third season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.It didn't take long for them to become important players in the galactic conflict, especially when a full out war erupted between them and Count Dooku. And it's when Dooku sent his Separatist forces to Dathomir that fans saw the most dangerous army in the galaxy.

The conflict between Count Dooku and Mother Talzin began when the Sith Lord turned on his apprentice, Asajj Ventress. After this betrayal, Ventress returned home to Dathomir to reunite with her kind, the Nightsisters, and get help from Mother Talzin to enact her vengeance against her former master. Together, they devised a plan to offer Dooku a new apprentice in Savage Oppress. However, when all of this backfired, Dooku sent the Separatist's droid army to Dathomir to destroy Talzin and the Nightsisters.

The Nightsisters quickly proved to be efficient fighters against their mechanical invaders. However, the sheer numbers of the droid army made them a nearly unstoppable force. Thankfully, the Nightsisters weren't without backup because an elder Dathomir witch named Daka performed an ancient spell that resurrected all of the dead Nightsisters on the planet. With this ritual, an entire army of unsettling zombies was raised. These zombies came in great numbers, and they proved to be extremely lethal. While they had no weapons to speak of, their great speed made them an efficient secret weapon. By simply overwhelming the droids, they dismantled them with ease. And the best part was that even if these undead Nightsisters were shot down, they could still get back up again.

However, there was one fatal flaw in the Nightsisters' army. While the zombies themselves couldn't be killed, the same couldn't be said for the one who controlled them. Once Daka was killed, her connection to the army was severed and they all fell simultaneously. The Nighstisters ultimately lost this battle but, had Daka been better protected, their army of zombies would have easily defeated the Separatist droids.

The Nightsister zombies made a return in the popular Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Once the story of the game took players to Dathomir, they came under attack by these monstrous creatures. Thankfully, their undead numbers were mostly manageable. But add a few hundred more and the Nightsisters' army of zombies knows no equal.

Streaming on Disney+, the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars stars Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the clone troopers, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan and Sam Witwer as Maul.
