Immortality was not a strange concept in TVD. But how old were the characters exactly and was there much difference from their IRL counterparts?

It's a common rule in the fantasy and gothic genre that vampires and other supernatural creatures don't age the way humans do. They either remain the same age they were during their transformation from human to supernatural beings, or the heroes age at a slower pace. The Vampire Diaries is no exception to this rule as its heroes can stay young for centuries if they're lucky.

However, not all of the show's main characters were vampires. Although it was rare, there were still a few residents of Mystic Falls that managed to stay human and live some form of a normal life. But do fans know how old they were specifically and where exactly they were born?

Tyler was one of the few unfortunate characters who met his demise on the show. Interestingly enough, Tyler's birth month and the day are known - the 10th of February. The only issue is that fans don't know exactly what year he was born in as there is much debate about whether he was born in 1992 or 1993.

Either way, his Zodiac sign is Aquarius. Tyler died in December 2017 when he was 24/25 years old. Just like the majority of actors on the show, Michael Trevino is older than the character he portrayed. Trevino was born in January 1985.

With all the things Bonnie's been through, it's easy to forget how young she is. Bonnie was born on the 5th of February 1993 which means her Zodiac sign is Aquarius. Bonnie died several times but always came back to life in the end.

She's the last surviving witch of the Bennett family since her mother Abby became a vampire instead. Bonnie has no biological siblings other than her adoptive brother Jamie. Kat Graham, on the other hand, was born in September 1989, making her almost 4 years older than her character.

Matt Donovan is one of the few characters who remained human throughout the entire show, and never became a vampire, a werewolf, or any other supernatural creature. As a result, Matt might look older than his friends and classmates even though they were born in the same year.

Matt was born on the 26th of February 1993 so he's a Pisces, and he and his friend, Bonnie, celebrate their birthdays the same month. Zach Roerig is almost a decade older than Matt since he was born in February 1985.
