Vampire Rebellion Is On the Rise in the Vampire Academy Trailer – tor.com

Should you find yourself questioning the return of vampire shows to the TV lineup this fall, well, I dont know what to tell you: Sign me up for all of em. (Vampires are immortal, after all; their series will never really die.) And especially for Vampire Academy, the latest fromVampire Diaries co-creator Julie Plec, who co-created this one with Marguerite MacIntyre (The Vampire Diaries,The Originals,Legacies). Bestie vampires (okay, fine, ones a half-vampire, whatever that means) tangled up in rebellion while navigating fraught relationships? Yes. Yes, please.

Based on the novels by Richelle Mead,Vampire Academy follows royal vampire Lissa (Daniela Nieves) as she comes of age alongside her best friend and Guardian, Rose (Sisi Stringer), amid the complexities and dangers of vampire society. The synopsis says:

In a world of privilege and glamour, two young womens friendship transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society. One as a powerful Royal, the other a half-vampire Guardian trained to protect against the savage Strigoi who threaten to tear their society apart. That is, if Royal infighting doesnt do the job first.

Also, as Plec toldEntertainment Weekly, In the midst of all the great opulent balls and royal intrigue, were telling a Hunger Games-esque story, which caught us by surprise as we were breaking it. Its got everything: Its got the Bridgerton and the Hunger Games.

I only have one question: Will there be as many dramatically snapped necks as there were in Vampire Diaries? One can only hope.

Vampire Academypremieres on Peacock on September 15th.
